Sloan rocked Seattle @ Neumo's April 28th

Here was my initial take on the show (I posted these on the band's website www.sloanmusic.com)

This show was friggin' awesome. This was the first time I've seen Sloan, and they had a great energy and came out swinging. They opened with Flying High Again, and off they went. Highlights of the show to me were Money City Maniacs (featuring an newly purchased siren from Ebay), The Good In Everyone, If It Feels Good, Do It, and the new Another Way I Could Do It. Lots of new stuff, and it all sounded great. I'll be back the next chance I get to see these guys.

I borrowed these pictures from a fellow blogger who was at the show, because my "cellphone" pictures paled in comparison. I'm gonna take a real camera to all of my shows from now on.

Sloan is four distinct songwriting voices — guitarists Patrick Pentland and Jay Ferguson, bassist Chris Murphy and drummer Andrew Scott — that nonetheless form a cohesive collective. Long-time Toronto scenesters who will always call Halifax home.

The setlist was as follows:

  • Flying High Again
  • Who Taught You To Live Like That
  • Will I Belong?
  • Ill Placed Trust
  • Coax Me
  • The Lines You Amend
  • Fading Into Obscurity
  • Golden Eyes
  • Love Is All Around
  • Living With the Masses
  • HFXNSHC
  • Blackout
  • Money City Maniacs
  • So Beyond Me / Don't You Believe a Word
  • I Understand (extended jamnation version)
  • You Know What It's About
  • Someone I Can Be True With
  • If It Feels Good Do It
  • I Can't Sleep
  • People of the Sky
  • Something's Wrong
  • I've Gotta Try
  • Set In Motion
  • Listen to the Radio
  • Can't You Figure It Out?
  • The Good In Everyone
  • Another Way I Could Do It
ENCORE:
  • I Am the Cancer
  • I Was Wrong

This was the third leg of their "Never Hear The End Of It" tour, supporting their eighth studio album which was released on September 19th, 2006.

*BREAKING NEWS*

The band has a NINTH studio album coming out June 10th, 2008 called "Parallel Play". You can check out 4 of the songs on their MySpace page here. The songs sound pretty darn good if you ask me. Believe in Me is a typical Sloan rocker. Witch's Wand, I'm Not A Kid Anymore (another Sloanesque rocker), and Emergency 911 are the others that are worth a listen.

They are starting an Northeastern US Tour, hitting cities such as Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Cambridge, MA, New York, Cleveland and Chicago in Mid to Late June 2008. You can see their tour list here.

I can't wait until they head back to the West coast, I'll be there! It was such a great time.
